How I work
I'm an independent marine surveyor. I don't rely on brokers for repeat business, so I've no reason to soften a report to keep them happy.
You get an honest, thorough look at the boat. If she's sound, I'll say so. If she isn't, I'll tell you exactly why, with photos and enough detail that you can act on it.
Reports are written in plain English, not surveyor-speak.
What I care about
Independence
I work for whoever's paying me: the buyer, the owner, the claimant. Never the broker or the insurer.
Doing the job properly
Boats don't get half a survey. If it's worth looking at, it goes in the report.
Plain speaking
You should be able to read the report and know what to do next. No jargon for its own sake.
